The pretty old part of Estepona town has a lovely central square, surrounded by beautiful cobbled lanes full of tapas bars, street cafes and little hidden shops. The beaches of Estepona are wide and long, backed by a beautiful promenade and chiringuitos (beach bars) dotted all the way along. The promenade is full of life, with sport enthusiasts running or using the beachside gymnasiums, whole generations of families having an evening stroll, and children enjoying the various play areas. The promenade leads all the way to the pretty port of Estepona, where more restaurants and bars can be found, plus a Sunday market. The port gets going at night, with its multitude of restaurants and small music bars that stay open late into the night. Estepona is surrounded by country lanes and rustic fincas, and the mountains of the Sierra Bermeja rise up behind the town, providing some lovely places to walk and picnic.
